Jeffrey maintains a diverse commercial practice and has a particular interest and expertise in property law and insolvency. He was called to the Bar in 2011 and possesses a wealth of prior knowledge and experience as a commercial litigator developed while practising as a solicitor for almost two decades.

 

Jeffrey has appeared at trial and appellate level in a broad range of federal and State jurisdictions including the Federal Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia, the New South Wales Court of Appeal and the Local, District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales. His expansive practice has also seen him represent clients in the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, Supreme Court of Victoria, Magistrates Court of Victoria, as well as before Royal Commissions and various tribunals.

 

Notably, he has been appointed as Honorary Legal Counsel of Scouts NSW and has previously appeared as Counsel on its behalf in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Jeffrey is also often called upon to appear as Counsel in interlocutory hearings and has achieved successful outcomes for clients applying for urgent interlocutory relief. He also regularly appears as Counsel in mediations.

 

In addition to his practice as a barrister, Jeffrey sits as a part-time Tribunal Member in the Consumer and Commercial Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). He is also a Legal Officer of the Royal Australian Navy Reserve. He has received several Civil and Military Awards for his service, including the Australian Active Service Medal for active service with the International Coalition Against Terrorism.

 

Jeffrey accepts briefs from solicitors in law firms and in-house legal counsel. He is commended by his clients for his attention to detail, depth of knowledge and his meticulous preparation of submissions on both law and facts. He is also highly valued for his independent expert advice in building and construction matters when expert determination clauses are invoked.

 

Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of New South Wales and has practised as a public notary since 2002. He has also completed several courses concerning military law and is currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Military Law with the University of Adelaide.
